Special thanks to all of the children that participated in our first annual children’s led worship service.

News and Announcements

Children’s Led Worship

Join us on Sunday, October 28th for our First annual children’s led worship service.  Please come and support our youth.

Inklings

An “inkling” is a hunch or hint of something.  Many of us have a notion that God exists, a suspicion that there is more out there than we can see. But, it’s hard to be confident in anything more than an inkling.  Brandon Perry-Hudson and Pastor Peter are wondering how many other guys would be interested in joining them for a monthly, multi-faith discussion around questions that are hard to answer.  Please contact Pastor Peter or leave your name and contact information on the sign-up sheet if you are interested.

What is Reformed?

We’ve had a number of new people express interest in joining the congregation.  Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Reformed tradition and what it means to be a member is invited to remain after worship on November 4th and 11th for a not-too-long conversation about where the Reformed Church came from and what it believes.

Yoga for the People

Don’t forget that SCRC hosts yoga twice a week.  You can join other members of the community and congregation on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 pm and Friday mornings at 9:00 am.  Yoga is led by Claudia Collins and is free for everyone (but we are taking donations).

Important News

Dear sisters & brothers of St. Croix Reformed,

There is some good news to report and there is…more good news to report.

First, many of you know that we have been praying for Tez Waters as she awaits relief from her pain following a hit-and-run accident. Pain medication is taking a toll on her body. Unfortunately, the procedure that could offer an alternative option for relief is over $170,000. It’s considered elective, so insurance is not going to cover it.

For some time now Tez and her friends and family have been campaigning to raise the money so for the procedure. There is now around $35,000 remaining. At our most recent Consistory meeting, the Elders and Deacons of SCRC decided to offer a $15,000 matching grant to the congregation and community. We will be receiving pledges and donations from the congregation. We will also be receiving donations from the community as well. So, if you haven’t had the opportunity to donate to Tez yet or if you felt that the goal was too far off, then now is the time to make a contribution!

From now until November 1st, SCRC will use reserve funds to match your donations. Please indicate on the memo line that you are making a “Donation for Tez.” The good news is that there are already people expressing interest in contributing to Tez’s campaign. The goal is well within reach. We have the goodness of God and the generosity of God’s people to thank for this opportunity. It’s good news!

Second, many of you also know that the wind turbine was damaged in the hurricane. Despite our efforts to raise it again, it is still lying down on the ground. But, wait! There is good news. SCRC has received a $50,000 grant from the Reformed Church in America so that we can install solar panels and a battery wall that may allow us to go entirely off grid. It would also allow us to provide communication, refrigeration, and power in the event hurricane and extended period without power. We feel that God has blessed us so that we can be a blessing. But, that’s not all!

A local organization, St. Croix Aviary, would like to have the wind turbine. They have the tools and resources to remove it from our property and would benefit from the power supply it provides. Call it coincidence or serendipity or providence. Whatever the case, it’s good news! If you have any questions about this, please feel free to call Pastor Peter or speak with one of your Elders or Deacons.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
