PRELUDE Christ the Lord Is Risen Today
GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP – I Peter 1
May grace and peace be yours in abundance.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In this you rejoice, even if now for a little while you have had to suffer various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith—being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
*HYMN #182 Christ the Lord Is Risen Today
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Most High and holy God, for us you sent your Son into the world. For us, he died. Through him you have delivered us from the grief of death. Because of him we can be saved from the pains of sin. We have found faith because Jesus died and you raised him from the grave. We can hold on to hope because Jesus died and you raised him from the dead. We continue to learn what it means to love because Jesus died and you raised him from the grave. Bless us all with your Holy Spirit so that we may do all these things more and more. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled:
‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’
‘Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?’
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
*HYMN #610 Lord, I Lift Your Name On High
SCRIPTURE Luke 24:1-12
But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’ Then they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb, they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; then he went home, amazed at what had happened.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION & THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.

as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen.
