Attitude of Gratitude.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.”

Having an attitude of gratitude changes the molecular structure of the brain, keeps gray matter functioning, and makes us healthier and happier. When you feel happiness, the central nervous system is affected. You are more peaceful, less reactive and less resistant. Now that’s a really cool way of taking care of your well-being.

The first two quotes above come from the Bible. The last one comes from an article called “Scientists Show How Gratitude Literally Alters the Human Heart & Molecular Structure of the Brain.”

We begun a new practice in worship this year. The Children’s Sermon is simply asking the kids to share something for which they are grateful. So, it may seem like Pastor Peter has run out of ideas, but it’s really about responding to Scripture (& science!) and cultivating practices for peace in our children’s lives and our own.

So, you’re invited to help your kids prepare to share this week and bring an attitdue of gratitude yourself. Thank you!
