Two members of the church recently received awards from The St. Croix Chamber of Commerce for their service to the community.
Bill Bohlke recently received the 2009 St. Croix Chamber of Commerce LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD “for his tireless efforts over the past 40 years to enhance of the quality of life available on St. Croix through his dedication to aviation, including founding Bohlke International Airways; certifying more than 900 pilots over the years after becoming youngest FAA Examiner in the Southern Region; successfully recruiting the prestigious Hurricane Hunters to relocate their base in the eastern Caribbean from Antigua to St. Croix; helping to save the lives of 38 airline passengers when a ALM-DC 6 ditched off of St. Croix in 1970; and his numerous efforts to help local youngsters succeed.”
John Harper, President of Marshall and Sterling Insurance accepted the 2009 BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD ”for creating career and ownership opportunities for its 35 employee-owners while providing them with comprehensive benefits and contributing to dozens of community organizations and events.”
