We invite you to join us for the year-end Jazz Vespers “A Crucian Jazzmas” featuring Otto James and friends on Sun. Dec 5th at 5:30 at the St Croix Reformed Church.

Please also bring a toy to donate. St Croix Reformed Church – sponsor of Jazz vespers , distributes toys to children in need, and we will support that initiative by asking for donations of unwrapped children’s gifts.

Otto James (keyboard) will be joined by Thomas Jackson (flute), Devin Carrington (Bass), Larry Bough (drums), Junie Allick (congas), and Isidore Giles (percussion) as they entertain you with Crucian spicey music for the holidays.

Please come and bring a friend.

I’ll have a sign up form for anyone who can donate refresshments for a month between Jan and June.

Special Jazz Vespers Announcement for March 7th

Sunday Night, March 7th, 5:30 to 6:30 Jazz Vespers will be led by Stan Joines and the accomplished Central High School Jazz Band.

This may be one of the last times you’ll get to hear the four musicians who are headed off to Berklee School of Music (3) and Conservatoria de Musica de Puerto Rico (1). That, in inself is an absolutely amazing accomplishment for ANY high school!!

Under our own Stan Joines’ direction, this band has not only brought home top medals from high school music competitions, but, after wowing visitors at a Sunset Jazz a few years ago, they were featured at the Interlochen Music Festival…and not as a “novelty”act. They will be returning from playing Steve Simon’s annual jazz/blues festival just in time for this program.

Your presence will mean a lot to these youth who represent the many youth who are talented, well-mannered, and definitely on their way to a bright future.

And how do you ever thank Stan Joines for giving his knowledge and his heart to so many youth over the years? … By showing up for worship and great music!

May 2, 2010: It’s the “Dean” of STX jazz…Jack Petersen

June 6, 2010: The season closes out with the engaging sounds of Elvis Pedro!

Mark your calendar for “Holiday Music with Cultural Spice” at the Dec 6 Jazz Vespers.

St Croix Reformed Church invites you join RENAISSANCE from 5:30-6:30. We almot locked them inside the Church last year so that they couldn’t leave!!!!

Tony Richard (keyboard), Bennett Smith (Bass), Rene Encarnactiion(percussion), and Leslie Matthias (Drums), will play under the direction of saxophonist D. Pikey Copemann.

SCRC will donate the Free Will Offering to help with Jennifer Galegos’ medical treatment.

Jazz Vespers General Information

Jazz Vespers is held the first Sunday evening of every month at 5:30 in the St Croix Reformed Church.

This is a service of prayers and jazz music featuring local and visiting musicians.

A freewill offering is received.
